Abstract

Currently, modern medicine has advanced rapidly, but the habit or tradition of drinking herbal medicine is still very strong in society. On average, the herbal ingredients used come from natural ingredients taken from the roots, bark, leaves, fruits and seeds of herbal plants. This study aims to conduct a phytochemical screening test of these herbal plants. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative Herbal plants that are widely used by the community are ginger, turmeric, kencur, temulawak, and temu ireng. The results of phytochemical screening of the five herbal plants show that herbal plants positively contain secondary metabolites of saponins, flavonoids, tannins and steroids..
